RALPH DAWDY MEMORIAL AWARD

The Ralph Dawdy Memorial Award
The Ralph Dawdy Memorial Award has been established to honor Ralph Dawdy of Bootheel Search and Rescue.  He was a Field Coordinator with NMSAR and also a volunteer fireman who was killed in a vehicle accident while responding to a forest fire.  The award is presented each year at ESCAPE.  The Award is to go to an outstanding SAR volunteer nominated by the nominee's team.  The nominated individual is expected to have made significant contributions to their own team and /or NM SAR statewide.  Examples of team contributions could include significant participation in leadership roles, mentoring, training, and SAR missions, while NM State SAR activities could include outstanding contributions as Incident Command Staff, volunteering on the Board of the NMSAR Council, and coordinating statewide and/or regional trainings.

A three-person committee consisting of the NMSARC Chair and two other board members will review all nominations and make its recommendation for a winning nominee to the NMSARC Board of Directors for their final approval.
