ESCAPE 2019 - HIGHLIGHTS

ESCAPE 2019 was held on the NM Tech Campus from May 17-19, 2019. Volunteers from 38 New Mexico teams attended this year’s event either as participants or instructors or both! This year’s event had 218 attendees including 44 instructors and 5 visiting out-of-state instructors. We offered 79 courses, including 19 that provided medical continuing education units and 16 that provided state SAR continuing education credits. We had 8 pass the Technician HAM License Exam including 1 higher level license. We had 28 pass the state Field Certification exam. Congratulations to All!

During the General Meeting:

The 2018 General Meeting Minutes were approved.
Jon Hitchcock reported on the current financials of the Council.
Aimee Adamek presented ESCAPE 2019 stats, all sponsors who made the event possible, and announced that we're heading back to Philmont in 2020!
David Price reported on a better process now in place for training programs provided by the Council and the State.
Terry Ann Miller reported on the status of membership; 38 Organizational Members renewed this year along with 1 Individual. We welcomed Tres Rio's SAR and individual Lawrence Koren as council members. Luna SAR has disbanded. NMSARST is also disbanding and members are joining Cibola SAR. She also reported that the Membership Dues process was moved online.
David Price reported that the Mapping Program is currently closed as we are working on either replacing our printer or finding a local printing source.
Ron Nelson reported that he is working on updating the HAM repeater list and map online, we've updated our FCC license information, and he will work on a survey of council team's means of comms to help address broader use of technology in NMSAR.
We recognized our fallen heroes: Michael Patterson (NM Working K9's), Dr. Stephen W. Attaway (AMRC), Maria Garcia (MVSAR), K.C. Cleberg (Santa Fe Sheriffs Posse), Finnegan (FEMA Live Find & Mountain Canine Corps Area Search: Handler Lette Birn), Jaguar (Sandia Search Dogs: Handler Mary Berry), Prince (NM Mounted SAR: Rider Matt Coulombe), Slick & Jake (NM Mounted SAR: Rider Mike and Treva)
The 2019 Ralph Dawdy Memorial Award was presented to Carrie Hale of Organ Mt. Technical Rescue Squad in recognition of her many contributions to SAR statewide.
Recognition was given to Aimee Adamek (2016-2019) and Sean McGann (2016-2019) for their services on the council. Thank you also to Eric Roybal, Michaela Buenemann, and Scott Voorhees.
Bob Baker reported on mission stats, mentioned new Field Coordinators and trainees, and that the State is still working on finding a Medical Director.

We welcomed two new members to the NMSARC Board along with two former members this year:
David Price (OMTRS) continuing a second term, Larry Zentner (NMSAR Support) - he's back for more!! Tamar Stieber (Mountain Canine Corps) and Maria McGrane (SFSAR). All were elected to three-year terms. With our continuing board members (Ron Nelson, Erik Nelson, Jon Hitchcock, Terry Ann Miller, and Ruth Ann Neal), we are a board of 9. We have room for 2 more!!
