The New Mexico Search and Rescue Council does not handle Search & Rescue Missions. NMSARC is a non-profit organization which many teams and individuals belong to who participate in SAR Missions run by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety. NMSARC is supported by dues and organizes summer, winter, many specialized trainings, an annual state wide training conference known as ESCAPE, and acts as an advocate for SAR in New Mexico. Member teams have access to three VHF and two UHF SAR radio frequencies, an affordable USGS topo and custom map program, LCD projectors, and more.
How Can You Get Involved in Search and Rescue?
Your route to participating in SAR is through volunteer groups who respond to SAR missions run by NMDPS. The best way to do that is to become a member of one of the teams listed below and begin training. The first step is to determine which team is closest to you. The second step might be to determine what specialty you can offer or would like to offer to a team. Our member teams cover a broad spectrum of specialties. Finally, review the team’s website and see which one might suit you best! If you need more help, feel free to contact [email protected].
