TRAINING
The New Mexico Search and Rescue Council promotes the advancement of training in the many disciplines required for search and rescue. Our member teams cover a broad spectrum of specialties related to SAR, and we believe that it is important to capitalize on the training expertise of the NMSARC member teams and the greater New Mexico SAR community. The Council invites member teams to host training events throughout the year. To encourage diverse and widespread participation in such events, member teams are encouraged to engage actively in hosting, coordinating and facilitating SAR training missions. While the hosting member teams would be considered the primary facilitators, the Council is available to serve as a sponsor for statewide and regional training events.
Trainings will be posted under Events along with information on prerequisites, registration and costs, if any.
Many training resources are available to the NMSARC member teams, among them:
Member teams can petition the NMSARC for assistance with the following:
- Department of Public Safety-sponsored trainings, including field certification and section chief courses. In addition, the DPS sometimes subsidizes other specialized trainings (e.g., tracking);
- NMSARC-sponsored training, much of which occurs during the ESCAPE conferences; and
- multi-team and/or multi-agency trainings, which are often designed as mock missions.
Member teams can petition the NMSARC for assistance with the following:
- event sponsorship and advertising via internet media, such as the NMSARC website;
- training instruction, consultation and/or guidance at any stage of the process. This could include bringing in specialized instructors; establishing an Incident Command staff; evaluating training plans, logistics or operations; or acquiring special resources; and
- financial assistance to get the event started (i.e., seed money) in the form of a loan to be repaid to the NMSARC after the event.
Please use the TRAINING REQUEST FORM below to submit your ideas or requests to the NMSARC board of directors for review and approval. For any questions or concerns, please contact [email protected].
